报告题目:Probing Transient Plasmons in Semiconductors

报告摘要In this talk, I will discuss the plasmonic properties of semiconductors in equilibrium and nonequilibrium states. Metalic Plasmonics has already been a well-established research and application field. Many renovations based on the strong electromagnetic near-field enhancements have been demonstrated and invented for sensing small quantities of chemicals with spectroscopy, thermal medical treatment in erasing cancer cells, and logical circuits aimed at future information handling.

However, metals are illusive for electrical and photonic tunability due to the intrinsic high carrier concentrations. Therefore, semiconductor plasmonics are of particular interest due to their potential as a platform for manipulating light with electromagnetic control. Recent progress in research in this direction also suggests that nonequilibrium plasmons in semiconductors may find essential applications in THz frequency information handling, storage, and computing.

I will introduce our efforts to promote this research field by presenting studies on InAs nanowire propagating plasmons, trimmed InAs infrared antennas, optically pumped InSb nonequilibrium absorptions, and transient plasmons in black phosphorus.

 

报告人简介Jianing Chen is a Professor in optics and condensed matter physics and group leader in the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Science and the University of Chinese Academy of Science. He twice led the National Key Research and Development Program of China. He is a member of the council of the Chinese Optical Society and secretary of the optics commission of the Chinese Physics Society. He was granted the Natural Science Award of Beijing and other Awards from scientific societies and the Chinese Academy of Science.
